Mammography
A new computed tomographic system is being developed for the 3D representation of the female breast. This system is based on the generation of X-rays with a scanning electron beam on a ring-shaped anode. This arrangement offers the advantage that, due to the very high recording speed, no movement artifacts arise, which can occur especially when displaying diagnostically relevant structures such as microcalcifications. This system also allows the uncompressed breast, including the tissue of the posterior chest wall, to be displayed.
